Tutapona's Certificate in Trauma & Adversity Intervention is aimed at equipping and up skilling current and emerging professionals to help them to support people who have experienced trauma and adversity. The course addresses the connections between stress and trauma, childhood trauma and development, grief and loss, suicidality, and poverty, while equipping the learner with mindfulness and relaxation techniques, foundational counselling skills, & self care to prevent/address secondary trauma.
 

DURATION

12 Weeks
The course is completely online, consisting of audio lectures and e-readings.

LEAD FACILITATOR'S BIO

Alicia Searl is currently a staff counselor with FAO covering 12 countries across East and West Africa. She was previously working as the Clinical Specialist and trainer for Tutapona for 4 years in the Kampala office.  She has been providing mental health training and staff care to international and national staff and Refugees across Africa. She has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and holds an active License of Clinical Social Work in the state of Kentucky. She has over 12 years of experience working within mental health training and awareness, community mental health, and the non-profit sector. She is currently teleworking from Kentucky but hopes to relocate back to East Africa in the near future with her husband and 5 year old son.
